Friday Post / top 8 annoying people on facebook

I hope you're ready for this:
8. Embarrassing photo tagger
Clearly I didn't want you putting up that photo if I said delete it off your camera, but what did you do...you tagged me in it on facebook.
7. Not in photo tagger
I'm not in the photo, don't tag me in it...just cause you think I'll get a kick out of how you think I'm "the innocent one" or the "the goodie two shoes" doesn't mean I will.
6. Mr. / Ms. Quiz taker
Just because you're fascinated by what of the original 151 pokemon you are doesn't mean I want to know what of the 151 original pokemon I am, so don't invite me to take them.
5. Acquaintance comments
Honestly I don't know you very well, I also don't know why you would be looking through my pictures and commenting on them...simple solution wait till I have photos that weren't taken over a year ago.
4. 1000+ photo profiles (self-tagged)
We all have those friends hopefully none of your reading is a person with more than 1000 self tagged photos. Think of all the time you've wasted on something that doesn't matter (the internet).
3. Internet PDA / Couples kissing on profile pictures
Yes, you're dating but looking back on this in the future, do you really want your future girlfriend or boyfriend seeing these dumb childish photos?
2. Creepy guy that somehow finds you without your lastname
Some of us just have wicked finding skills others are just creepy.

1. The Kissing girl face (pucker face) with gang signs
It just isn't original anymore so why do you continue to put up your sideways peace signs and pucker your face like you own the place. You know I haven't seen the regular peace sign in a while you could try that.

Let's cheer up shall we?

In the recent news you probably seen how swine flu has increased sales of hand sanitizer and lysol disinfectant sprays...well that's all good and dandy that it took a virus to restart the economy but doesn't that show how weak we are as a country?  We are controlled by fear and a will to live, we push others down while we sit on top of the pile when everyone could potentially be "on top" of the pile if we just took the time to do little things for people.  But who am I? Nothing more than dust from the earth talking out my ass as I sit in my apartment hiding from the pandemic of swine flu.  What an American icon I am...

But anywho, cheer up and look at some more pictures:

AIDs script

LUNCH IN THE UNION

Logan and his new girlfriend are sitting at a table eating lunch
and laughing by the windows in the Union trying to get to
know each other more after their relationship started rather
quickly the night before when the night up in the bedroom.
Logan is brought back to earth when he sees Mark across the
room eating lunch.  Mark's presence reminds Logan of last
week when Mark sneezed in Logan's mouth when they were
passing by on another by the doors in the Union.  Logan is
nervous that he may have given his new girlfriend AIDs
because the previous week Mark had sneezed in his mouth.  He
doesn't know how to tell her.

Laughter
Wide: camera has logan, emily, and half the room in focus
from about 30 feet out from the table.
Zoom: Camera zooms in slightly then transitions to a new
camera set up at the table.

LOGAN
So what kinda music do you like?
As emily begins to speak the camera slowly zooms in on
logan's face and another camera looks from over his shoulder
to see what he is looking at.

Mark is sitting at a table eating his lunch.

EMILY
Well I like classic rock, jazz,
blues, hip hop (start naming bands
EXCEPT QUEEN)...

EMILY'S VOICE STARTS TO FADE OUT AND LOGAN BEGINS TO HA

FLASHBACK 1
Tracking: Camera is following mark from outside the union

Mark sneezes a few times and scratches himself as he is walking
towards the union.  As Mark gets near the door we see Logan
coming towards the doors to come outside; he looking at his
phone.  As they approach the doors it is clear there will be
a collision of some kind.  Logan opens the door and Mark
sneezes right in his face as they bump into one another.
MONTAGE: Different angles of mark sneezing in logan's face
and different angles of logan's reaction to getting sneezed
on.

Logan reacts with disgust that a stranger would sneeze in
his face and keep walking without apologizing.

Mark sniffles and wipes his nose as he continues to walk but he
looks back at Logan with a faceless expression on his face.

Logan looks at his hands as a look of fear hits his face, he has
another flashback

FLASHBACK 2

Logan's sister/mother is warning him about catching AIDs.
CLOSE UP: Logan's Sister or mother is talking directly into
the camera as though the camera is logan.

SISTER/MOTHER
You can get AIDs from anything,
blood, urine, saliva.

(Post production work to be done here)

FLASHBACK 1

A look of horror is on Logan's face as his slowly falls to the
floor.
tracking: follows logan to the floor keeping his head level
in the frame.

LUNCH IN THE UNION

Emily has been talking this whole time, but it isn't until she
says her line that Logan really starts to pay attention.

EMILY
Oh oh oh, I really love queen.
Freddy Mercury is possibly the
greatest singer of all time.  I
mean his vocal range is incredible...(continues
on talking about how amazing Freddy
Mercury is)

Logan is awakened by the Freddy Mercury comment and starts talking
to himself inside his head.

LOGAN VO
Didn't Freddy Mercury die of AIDs?
Ohhhh Shit he definitely did.

Logan's eyes widen when he realizes that Freddy Mercury did die
of AIDs.

EMILY
What about movies? Have you ever
seen RENT?

Logan again is taken off guard by the Emily mentioning RENT.

LOGAN
Yeah yeah I have.

LOGAN VO
AIDs

EMILY
It's my all time favorite
movie...(trails off talking about how
great RENT is)

Logan begins to have an internal dialog with himself but it looks
as though he is listening to what Emily is saying.

LOGAN VO
How do you tell someone you have
AIDs?

Logan looks across the room again where Mark is sitting
still eating his lunch.  His sandwich falls apart.

LOGAN VO
Look at him over there eating his
AIDs sandwich.  Probably doesn't
care that he gave me AIDs, or that
I gave it to Emily last night.
Thanks asshole, you enjoy that AIDs
sandwich while you still can.

Logan looks back at Emily.

EMILY
Did you see that guy walk by just
now I think those AIDs would look
good on you.

LOGAN
What?!

EMILY
Those shades, didn't you see the
guy? Nevermind.

Emily starts sneezing like crazy. Logan has a flashback to Mark
sneezing and wiping his nose. This time the flashback shows
Mark face in a close up rather then wide shot.

Logan can't take it anymore.

LOGAN
I have AIDs!

EMILY
What?

LOGAN
I have AIDs...
EXTREME CLOSE UP: Logan's Face

Emily takes her glass of water and throws it in Logan's face
with force.
WIDE: Shot of the table as Emily gets Up
Over the Shoulder: Emily leaves walking west turning left at the
wooden pillar exhibit.

Logan gets up the camera is still behind him over the shoulder
view.

LOGAN
Emily wait! I can explain, maybe
you don't AIDs we really didn't do
anything!
Close up: Mark eating his sandwich

Mark's sandwich falls apart again.

AIDs

This afternoon was quite a productive afternoon.  From 1:00pm until about 5:00pm the short comedy AIDs was filmed.  The parties involved were Logan Lovett (playing Logan), Emily Downes (playing Shannon), Mark O'Neill (playing Mark), David Busse (playing guy with sunglasses), and Giovanny Vazquez (Sound).  Everyone did an excellent job with the parts they were given.  I hope everything turns out excellent when I go to work on Post sometime this weekend.

Tuesday Morning

Morning everyone, I have successfully changed my wake up time in the morning to an early 7:00am and it's going quite well for me.  The only complaint is that Wednesdays will be hell in the evenings because of that Sci Fi class.  I've never fallen asleep in a class before but I think this week might change that.
A lot of things have been on my mind lately; diabetes as usual, school work, a final project for basic, a midterm for sci fi, and some other things I'd like to disclose at a later date.

I had some pretty weird dreams last night but they have escaped me, I remember waking up in the middle of the night about 3am and saying to myself, "wtf?" And then going back to bed.

btw weather, you suck sometimes and mostly at the inappropriate times : \

A-Bomb

So I have a small 10min project I put together...I think it spent more time rendering than I did working on the 10 second video.
Tell me what you think?  I think I found a few effects I might use later on, I've favorited them and will not force anything but still would like to use them.

Today

Today is my brother's birthday; he is 17 today.  Happy Birthday bro.

Today I have to have ideas for my final project for basic video, I have them...question is can I pull them off and will Alex let me use them.

And even though the sky from my room is beautiful this morning, I know when I step outside around noon I will be stepping into the worst weather for about 2 weeks.  Its so damn cold.  St. Patrick's day is a week away and we got 18 degree (-8 celsius for our canadian readers) temps.

Recession...a break from carrying about money

I don't think anyone understands that this recession we are going through is actually a good thing.  It helps drive down prices and keep companies in check.  The only thing that my generation doesn't understand is that this is a cycle that happens every 10-15 years, we were just too young to remember it when it happened before.  All we remember is the nice reasonable prices for things that happened as a result of the recession.

Things are cheaper as a result of recessions
The quality of products remains the same or sometimes gets better
The markets usually go down but the stronger small companies thrive and expand due to the recession...agree or disagree?

I hope you like fire cause this is sizzling with pre-explosion.

Welcome March and Production Notes #7

Just think in a few weeks spring break...I'm not as excited for spring break as I am for the warmer weather which I hope will follow.  The past weekend I was able to participate in the making of a film called "Resurrection Ferns" directed by Tate Bunker , the experience was good I'm glad I was given a chance and I hope I'll get more in the future.  I was also in the movie which was sweet.  I was an extra on the public transit bus they rented for the afternoon, I attempted to be "guy blinded by the light"  and yeah that was me.  I can't wait to see the film too, the synopsis I read was really good.

I'm going to go see if I can talk with Susan Kerns today about my scripts, she's a professor who wrote the screenplay for Tate.

Musiwaukee

Making a music video right now of Milwaukee, in my spare time of course.  Most likely I will be putting it to something by Sackcloth Fashion. Go here if you want to hear an example of their work: LINK

PS I've decided to pick up where I left off with my tv script and maybe in the next month we'll have 2 more episodes to share with you all.

What to write

It's hard to develop characters that will interact with each other.  For instances if I write about a old bus driver named jack who punches kids in the face when they bring sunflower seeds on his bus, well bad example he would be easy to incorporate in a script or screenplay because he is so dynamic...this is why i for me its easier to write comedy than drama.  In drama there are characters that are relatable because they are so real and thats what makes a drama dramatic.  But in comedy you can put anyone in a room and have them interact.  The key to writing is predicting what the audience will expect and do the opposite.  Sounds easy right? Try it sometime. :)

Production Notes #6

I have an incredible idea but I dont know if I want to share until I actually have it written down in script format...ideas are so easily stolen online.  But I will be hopefully copyrighting this one because I think it is that good. :)

...I'm such a tease.

Syndicated Note: Who knew you actually had to do something to succeed?

I've found myself thinking the past few days about the future and what it has in store for me. Is it a rock future where I skin my knee on every rough surface until I finally give up at the end or do I take those scrapes and turn them into a lesson I teach my kids when we're living out of a cardboard box and selling crack on the street as a team... because nothing spells teamwork like crack dealing.

This is the deal, I've chosen to pursue a career in film and the success rate is low. It isn't that I would consider myself a failure if I didn't make it big, it's that if I didn't make it big I wouldn't be able to live because of healthcare. See diabetes has become an issue as of late, what will I do if I fail? What will I do if I cannot make it to the comfortable level of supporting myself? These thoughts have found their way into my head this week. They make me uncomfortable. It's hard to grasp failure at this point because failure in my mind is not an option. At this point I wish I wasn't as smart as I am so that I wouldn't understand what is at sake, or even better I wish I was smarter so I could work the problem out and plan accordingly. But I don't have those options because I am who I am and that's who I'll be. The only comfort I find is that I would probably be in this situation with any career I tried to pursue, not just film. So in the meantime, from now until future me becomes defined (either as a crack-dealing dad or film executive), I will continue to hope for the best cause that's what they (parents, teachers, and you) have told me to do. Just in case I don't make it, does anyone know the going rate for crack right now? And is it rate? I mean I don't know the terminology for selling smack...

Motion

I was just messing around with Motion, holy crap that is the best program ever.  I may actually like it more than final cut pro...meh maybe.  I can't wait to show what I can do with it in a project.

13

What kinda sick person decided the number 13 was superstitious?  It's a good number, a nice even TEN plus a three (some say holy trinity), three isn't a crowd; it's a democracy with easy voting : P .

Oh Wednesdays 2.0

This seems like the longest day of the week to me.  Some aspects of Wednesdays are enjoyable like going to bed Wednesday nights haha.  No really though Wednesdays feel like I have accomplished a lot, for the most part.  I am always exhausted come 10:30PM and Thursdays are so much more enjoyable because they feel like Fridays and what also helps is how much I love my Tuesday/Thursday classes :)

In the comments for this one please list some movies I may not have seen that I should so I can add them to my list of need-to-watch movies.

Sick

So for the past few days I've been feeling under the weather.  But it comes and goes for some reason, so for instance right now I feel about 75% which is not bad for being sick...but its just annoying either kill me or let me be.  Well please don't kill me : ( haha

Production Notes #3 update

So I failed to mention what kind of photographs I would want to use in this project.  I would like to show off Milwaukee.  The architecture, the public transit system, the lake front, the 3rd ward, the art museum, the interstate just south of the city, miller park, and other things I may have forgotten to mention.

Batman and Production Notes #3

This post has nothing to do with Batman but I thought I'd title it such just cause Sarah mentioned him.  Anywho, this post has to do with my project idea...Here is a link to a short 30 second video I made that that shows what I want to do. (It's in ".mov" format)

Ding Ding Round 2

I'm just ripping on superheroes and their girlfriends today.

Just was watching superman returns and lois should of died somewhere between 9 and 21 times already and the movie isn't done yet.  If I was the executive producer I would rename this movie "Lois" + something derogatory.

Stick a fork in me I'm done.

Production Notes #2

First of all I just want to say that I don't want to have a huge wedding when I get married lol... I know out of the blue but I was just watching spiderman 2 and freaking mary jane left her fiance at the alter for Peter.  Really? I mean who cares its a movie but she's a freaking whore for saying she'd marry someone else and then leaving what's-his-name at the alter for Peter, I'd be so embarrassed that's why I wanna go small on that day.

Enough ranting and raving, let's get to production notes haha :

So what I was thinking while walking around today taking pictures was 'what hasn't been done yet that could be done on a small scale with ease and a small crew?'  It doesn't even have to be all video.  I came up with an answer.

So maybe you've seen this vimeo video I posted on my facebook page titled "Fat City Reprise" If not here is the link.  Basically the director of photography took 45,000 photos and made a music video out of them.  I was thinking that could be fairly easy if you took in mind a few things.

1. Don't think too big.
2. Simple shots, let the editing speak for itself.
3. Pans only? (Zooms could be a little difficult and if you zoom in to far then what's there to look at?)

Anywho, the idea that popped into my mind was to take roughly 5,000 images place them to a song that keeps a beat and tada something special.  What song did I think of?  Baba O'Riley by The Who.   Towards the end of the song it starts to speed up which is where I think the number of photos per second needs to increase.  (4:30? and even more around 4:55)

Raise your hand if you think it's doable or eyebrow if you think I'm crazy and I'm biting off more than I can chew for right now (maybe a summer project then?).

Saturday, February 7, 2009

TX and GS400

Going out in this gorgeous weather this morning to take some more photos for cinematography and shoot my first video project for basic video.  I know exactly what I want for my video project I hope I don't master this one and then have trouble topping it later with my next two projects.  Well I'm certainly thinking high of myself... we'll see I guess : P

Stressed much?

Hello stress, where did you come from?  I don't know why but I had a mild panic attack this morning.  It had a lot to do with a dream I had last night.  Basically, in the dream I was in the situation of deciding whether or not I wanted to go back to Augustana for school or move on to UW-Milwaukee...it was weird because in my dream I chose to go back to Augustana and finish speech communication out before moving on to UWM.  I guess the stressful part about it was waking up and realizing that I didn't have that option any more AND the fact that possibly my subconscious really wanted me to stay at Augustana?  That was what caused this mild panic to ensue for like 12 minutes.  However, I was able to subdue it by thinking about a friend who packed up here belongings and moved out to Hawaii and what must have gone through her mind during that whole ordeal with the Augustana administration.  So where are we now?  Well somewhere between glory and shame, success and failure, life and death.  Getting my bearings and feet braced for anything is the best I can do for now... Also don't have so a lot of salt/sodium before you go to bed, load up on potassium if you want a good nights sleep, that's what I'll be doing tonight.

Production Notes:
What would you guys think about me posting my copyrighted pilot to my blog?  I don't know if it would fit but I could put it in Acts/Scenes.

Trond

So I thought this morning I'd post a link to a photographer I know, he does wonderful stuff.  The only problem is he isn't in the states!  He lives in Norway where base-jumping is king. He base jumps himself.  His name is Trond.  Spell check wants his name to be spell "Trend" but he is far from a trend he is unique in his field, so without further introduction here is his website.

Wednesday, February 4, 2009

Oh Wednesdays

One day of the week that couldn't be any longer.  Even though I don't have class until 3:00PM I don't get home until 9:30PM...sucks.  Anywho, I have a really good idea for a "short" film.  It might actually turn out to be up to 45 minutes long but I think each second will add to the film.  Without giving anything away before I have even wrote anything down, it will basically be about four peoples' lives that are connected in small ways and how little things affect the out come of their day.  It will be dramatic, nothing that will go into the film will be that shouldn't be there, and I will be determined to reshoot anything that I don't like in the editing room.

Canon TX

As I thought the film in my camera did not catch.  Therefore I had to retake all the photos I took before.  In addition to this I couldn't figure out how to rewind the film, I know it sounds stupid, but I tried to rewind the film and the film ripped and so I had no chose but to expose the film to the light of day and ruin my 2nd attempt at taking pictures.  But now I am on my 2nd roll but 3rd try at taking these images lol

I feel like an idiot.  I'm using my dad's old camera to take these pictures (I hope to upload them when I get a chance).  He got the camera from his dad before he died so it makes the images I take much more meaningful to me.  I hope you will feel the same way when you see them.  It's a Canon TX, the first camera my dad ever owned.

Monday, February 2, 2009

Hello February

Wow where did January go?
It seems like the new year was just yesterday and now its already February 1st.  So my first week of classes are already over and here it is Monday again, we've restarted the week.
My back problems are less now that my parents visited and dropped off a mattress pad, its like sleeping on clouds...big puffy clouds!
I've been out talking pictures this weekend, I hope that the film caught on the winding mechanism in my camera or else we might have a small problem.  The film is due tomorrow and if I took 24 pictures of nothing... that would suck.
Production notes to follow in a later post.

Breaking back / Production notes 1

My back has been harassing me non-stop for the past few days.  I'm not sure if its the way I'm sleeping (the bed is pretty hard)....(that's what she said)... or if it's the seven hours a week I have to sit in the most uncomfortable theatre chairs in the world.  Maybe it's a combination of the two, I just don't know.  I just hope it goes away soon.

But anywho, there are production notes I'd like to share.  I have a few doable ideas that have come into my mind when I've been in random places.  I will share them as the ideas start to become a little more solidified and well rounded.  Basically, I just have the ideas which is good to start with but I can't pick up a camera and start shooting yet.  More to come later.

And it begins...

Before I begin this blog I would like to remind everyone that the opinions expressed in this blog are mine and may offend those who disagree with my opinion.  I will try and put things lightly because I am considerate to those I might offend when I write.  However, Paul Newman had it right when he said, "If you don't have enemies, you don't have character."  So as a recap, I will say somethings you may not agree with but I will do it in the most respectful way possible.

Looking forward to gaining followers and a fan base for my blog, with that being said...

Welcome to my blog.
